The word photography simply means the use of light and images, that is why it is defined by Wikipedia as an art, application and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film.

To create beautiful images, there’s a need for some creativity by a photographer who understands the craft.
Here are some of the professional terms you should know as a beginner in the photography profession.
There are bad images– There is a saying that “there is no bad image”. The truth is there are bad images; we have underexposure and overexposure in photography, this has to do with the setting of the camera aperture, shutter speed and flashlights. Many photographers tend to confuse themselves when it comes to these settings.
Beginners need to get familiar with cameras and their settings and how they apply to different weathers, it is the job of the photographer to differentiate between bad and good images by getting their exposures right.
Photography is broad- we have several types of photography, know your craft and practice the aspect you want to focus on. If it Wedding photography or Product Photography? you have to be good with at least two, you can’t learn everything.
There’s no hard and fast rule to photography– Your camera is a machine that you have to have control over how it creates your images, you need to learn how to use it with some level of skills. hence, the art aspect of the profession comes to life, your ability to do proper equation; composition, framing, mood, and telling a story will make you stand out in the professional.
If you don’t read books, watch videos, and go out again and again to shoot, then your rate of improvement will be minimal.
Photography is about having the right gear- Every photography has it gear for shooting. For that super close-up shot, a macro lens (or filters) are a must. For you to get the right lens for any aspect of photography, you need to learn your craft and start taking several images.
Photographers must be ready to sacrifice a whole lot because it takes time to be competent- You must be ready to learn. Getting your camera gear at first is exciting and fun, so you take lots of pictures. Fortunately, you may get frustrated at how your images look, compared to those seen online. The most likely outcome is that you give up because it’s too hard.
The alternative option is that you work even harder at learning your craft, read more books, attend some workshops and seminars.
Photography is very expensive– Camera body and the lenses are as expensive as you grow more in the profession, you will might need to buy more lenses and a camera bag is necessary.
Keep Shooting- if you truly want to be a photographer, you have to keep shooting, let it be your passion. It may take years for you to master your craft, but consistency is the key to be a good photographer. Critics will show up, you will feel like giving up, but remember why you started.
